- Eyes: Clear, bright, and free from discharge
- Nostrils: Clean and dry, with no odd smells or mucus
- Coat & Skin: Glossy coat, no bald patches or unusual bumps
- Manure & Urine: Regular, well-formed droppings and normal urination
- Feet: No signs of lameness or heat in the hooves
- Temperature: Normal range is ~99–101°F (37.2–38.3°C)
- Pulse & Respiration: Pulse: 28–44 bpm, Respiration: 8–16 breaths per minute
- Hydration: Skin pinch test should bounce back quickly
- Behavior: Alert, responsive, and consistent with their normal mood
- Appetite: Eating and drinking normally
